Question 1 — Situation: Ms. Lin lives in Minami-machi in Aoba City. She works on Sundays, so she wants to take part on a Saturday. She would also like to try the earthquake shaking experience. What should Ms. Lin do?
Question 2 — Situation: Mr. Tanaka lives in Kita-machi and will take part in the drill on October 5 with his three-year-old child. He also wants to know where to go if an earthquake happens. Which statement about Mr. Tanaka matches the notice?
Aoba City — Notice about the Disaster Drill
Venues and times for each district. A: East district (Higashi-machi, Hon-machi) — the schoolyard of Higashi Elementary School. Please gather at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 4. You will practise using a fire extinguisher.
B: West district (Nishi-machi, Midori-machi) — the gym of Nishi Junior High School. Please gather at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 4. You will ride in a vehicle that lets you experience earthquake shaking.
C: South district (Minami-machi, Sakura-machi) — the car park of Minami Community Centre. Please gather at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 5. You will practise using a fire extinguisher.
D: North district (Kita-machi, Hibari-machi) — the open space in Kita Park. Please gather at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 5. You will ride in a vehicle that lets you experience earthquake shaking.
About children: Children of elementary school age and above can take part in the drill with you. Children who have not yet started elementary school will be looked after next to the reception desk at each venue.
Please note: If you cannot come on the day set for your own district, you may join at another district’s venue. Please call the Disaster Prevention Section by three days before the day you attend.
Please wear clothes and shoes that are easy to move in. Please bring your own drink.
The fire extinguisher drill will be cancelled if it rains. The other venues will go ahead even in the rain.
The venues for this drill are not the same as the evacuation sites used when a disaster happens. Please check the evacuation sites on the map that the city hands out.

The section about children says that children who have not yet started elementary school are looked after next to the reception desk at each venue, and Mr. Tanaka’s child is three. For the evacuation site, the fourth note says it is different from the drill venue and should be checked on the map the city hands out. Option 1 is wrong because it says the venue tells you the evacuation site, option 2 because it says a phone call is needed to leave the child, and option 4 because it says a three-year-old can join the drill.
