“What made you want to become a police officer?”
“When I was a child, I tried to go to my grandfather’s house by myself and got lost. I was crying in the middle of the road when a police officer spoke to me kindly: ‘You don’t have to cry anymore. It’s okay.’ The relief I felt at that moment was more than words can express.
This experience made me admire police officers, and as I grew up, that feeling became stronger and stronger. And now, my long-held wish has finally come true.”
Pointer words like「この」usually refer to what was just written. Right before「この経験」, the passage describes getting lost, crying, and being comforted by a police officer.
Tip: Options 2, 3 and 4 describe the same scene from three different roles: the speaker was the one who received help (2) — not a bystander who watched it (3), and not the helper (4). The verb「くれました」shows the action was done for the speaker. Tracking てくれる/てもらう/てあげる is a classic JLPT skill.
