Notice — Minami City, Price-Rise Support Benefit Payment:
Because the prices of goods have risen, the city will send a benefit payment to all residents.
1. Who can receive it: everyone who has resident registration in Minami City as of January 1, 2026. Foreign residents are also eligible if they have resident registration.
2. Amount (per person): adults (19 and over) … 5,000 yen / children (18 and under) … 10,000 yen
3. How to apply (choose one): by phone — Minami City Call Center, weekdays 9:00–17:00; or online — via the QR code below. * Either way, you must register a bank account. * Family members in the same household can apply together in one application.
4. Application period: September 1 – September 30, 2026
5. Transfer and notification: the money is transferred about one month after registration. Notification of the transfer is sent by email, only to those who registered an email address. We do not contact anyone by phone or postcard; if you have no email, please check your bank account yourself.
6. If you need an interpreter: please contact the International Cooperation Association (English, Vietnamese, Chinese).
* For questions about this notice, contact the Minami City Call Center.
Q1: Rin’s family is four people: Rin (34), his wife (30), their eldest son (19), and their eldest daughter (15). All of them have had resident registration in Minami City since 2025. How much will the family receive in total?
Answer: 2 (25,000 yen). Adults are 19 and over, so Rin, his wife, and the 19-year-old son are all adults: 5,000 × 3 = 15,000 yen. Only the 15-year-old daughter is a child: 10,000 yen. Total: 25,000 yen.
Q2: Ann is a foreign resident who moved to Minami City in December 2025 and registered as a resident. Which statement about Ann is correct?
1. Whether by phone or online, she must give her bank account details when she applies.
2. Because she is a foreigner, she must register an email address first.
3. To receive the payment, she must apply by September 1, 2026.
4. Ann has only just moved here, so she cannot receive the payment.
Answer: 1. The ※ note in item 3 says a bank account must be registered for both methods, so it applies no matter which one she chooses.

= Everyone who has resident registration as of January 1. It fixes one moment in time and asks about your situation then — not before or after.
= Foreign residents are also eligible if they have resident registration.
= We send it by email only to those who registered an email address. Note the difference from 〜だけに: 〜にだけ marks the recipient.
= You must give your bank account details when you apply. In the notice this idea appears as 「〜が必要です」— a softer way to say the same thing.
= She has only just moved here, so she cannot receive the payment. 〜たばかり means very little time has passed. Careful: in this quiz the statement sounds reasonable but is false — always check the notice, not your intuition.
= September 1 to September 30. The first date is when it starts, not the deadline. The deadline is the second date.
The key to Q1 is the boundary: adults are 19 and over, children are 18 and under. The 19-year-old son is an adult, not a child. Adults: Rin, his wife, and the son (5,000 × 3 = 15,000). Child: the daughter only (10,000). Total: 25,000 yen.
This treats all four as adults — but the 15-year-old daughter is a child. - 2(25,000
3 adults × 5,000 + 1 child × 10,000 = 25,000 yen. - 3(30,000
This counts the 19-year-old son as a child — but 19 falls under “19 and over,” so he is an adult. - 4(40,000
This treats all four as children.
Q2 requires checking four different places in the notice (items 1, 3, 4, and 5). Finding just one spot is not enough.
The small ※ in item 3 says a bank account must be registered for “either way” — that is, for both methods. So whichever way she applies, she must give her account details. Note also that the notice’s 「〜が必要です」is rephrased in the option as 「〜しなければならない」.
Registering an email is not required. Item 5 only says that those who register get a notification — that is not a condition for receiving the money. This option confuses “the condition for being notified” with “the condition for being eligible.” Item 1 also states that foreign residents are eligible with registration; nothing extra is asked of them.
Item 4 gives a period: September 1–30. September 1 is the day applications open, not the deadline. The deadline is September 30.
If you rely on intuition — “she just arrived, so surely not yet” — you pick this. But item 1 asks about having registration as of January 1, 2026. Ann registered in December 2025, so she already had it on that date. What matters is not when she moved but her status on January 1.
