Q1⭐⭐⭐ 難しい / Hard

以下いかの4つの語句ごくを並ならべ替かえ、正ただしい文ぶんにしましょう。
Arrange the four words below into the correct sentence.

🇬🇧 Grammar Notes — 〜た上で

「〜た上で」 means “after doing ~ (and then, on that basis, …)”. It is a formal pattern used for important decisions and official procedures.

よく is an adverb, so it has to sit directly in front of the verb 相談した — that is what fixes the first blank. Then 上で follows the past verb.

Key word order: [adverb] + [plain past verb] + 上で + [what was decided].
The word on the ★ (3rd blank) is 「上で」.
Q2⭐⭐⭐ 難しい / Hard

以下いかの4つの語句ごくを並ならべ替かえ、正ただしい文ぶんにしましょう。
Arrange the four words below into the correct sentence.

🇬🇧 Grammar Notes — 〜なんて

「〜なんて」 expresses surprise or disbelief: “the very idea that ~ / I can’t believe that ~”.

It is followed by a negative or astonished reaction — あり得ない, 信じられない, 思わなかった. 「あの真面目な」 describes a person, so 彼が must come straight after it.

Key word order: [subject が] + [object を] + [verb + なんて] + [disbelief].
The word on the ★ (3rd blank) is 「つくなんて」.
Q3⭐⭐ 普通 / Normal

以下いかの4つの語句ごくを並ならべ替かえ、正ただしい文ぶんにしましょう。
Arrange the four words below into the correct sentence.

🇬🇧 Grammar Notes — 〜すぎる + まったく〜ない

「〜すぎる」 means “too much / excessively”. Drop ます from the masu-form and attach it: 空きます → 空き + すぎる. Here 空きすぎて gives the cause (“I got too hungry, and so…”).

「まったく」 only works with a negative ending — まったく〜ない = “not … at all”. That pairing is the clue: まったく has to sit right before 動け + ない.

Key word order: [cause] + すぎて + まったく + [negative result].
The word on the ★ (3rd blank) is 「まったく」.
Q4⭐⭐ 普通 / Normal

以下いかの4つの語句ごくを並ならべ替かえ、正ただしい文ぶんにしましょう。
Arrange the four words below into the correct sentence.

🇬🇧 Grammar Notes — 〜かいがあって

「〜かいがあって」 means “the effort paid off”. 甲斐 is the “worth” of an effort, so 練習したかいがあって = “all that practice was worth it”. What follows is always a good result.

Two orders are correct here: ついに 試合に OR 試合に ついに. Either way 「練習した かいがあって」 keeps its order, which is why the ★ sits in the 2nd blank.

Key word order: [plain past verb] + かいがあって + [good result].
The word on the ★ (2nd blank) is 「かいがあって」. 「ついに」 and 「試合に」 can come in either order.
