I’m Japanese, born and raised in Osaka. I read every question on this site aloud to make sure the Japanese sounds natural.

Free JLPT N3 and N2 practice: kanji, grammar, reading, listening, sentence ordering and onomatopoeia. Over 180 quizzes and over 1,000 audio clips recorded in my own voice, and I add new ones every week. No sign-up. No paywall. Nothing to install.
JLPT N3・N2の無料練習問題です。漢字、文法、読解、聴解、並べ替え、オノマトペ。180本以上のクイズと、私自身が録音した1,000本以上の音声があります。毎週、新しいものを増やしています。登録も、有料プランも、インストールも必要ありません。
In the listening quizzes, you can also play an optional AI voice. It is there as a help, because it can be easier to catch at first. My own recording is the one to follow for natural rhythm and pitch accent. Please use the AI voice as a helper, not as a model to copy.
聴解問題には、補助としてAI音声も付けています。AI音声のほうが聞き取りやすい場合があるからです。ただし、自然なリズムとピッチ(アクセント)の手本は、私のネイティブ音声です。AI音声は、聞き取りの助けとして使ってください。
Why I can be useful to you / 私が学習者の助けになると思った理由
1. I am a native speaker, not a certified teacher
I don’t have a Japanese teaching licence, and I won’t pretend otherwise. What I have is a native ear and the patience to use it on every single sentence. If you need exam strategy from a professional, a school will serve you better. If you want to know whether a sentence sounds like real Japanese, this site is a good fit.
日本語教師の資格は持っていません。そこは正直に書いておきます。私が持っているのは、ネイティブの耳と、それを一文ずつ使う根気です。試験のテクニックを専門家から学びたいなら、学校のほうが向いています。「この日本語は本物っぽいか」、それを探しているなら私のこのサイトはぴったりです。
2. I have been talking with learners for over four years
I’ve done language exchange with Japanese learners around the world since 2022. I know which sentences confuse people, which explanations don’t land, and which mistakes almost everyone makes at N2. The quizzes here come from those conversations, not from a textbook index.
2022年から、世界中の日本語学習者と言語交換を続けています。どの文でつまずくか、どの説明が届かないか、N2で誰もが同じところを間違えることを知っています。ここにある問題は、教科書の索引ではなく、その会話から生まれています。
3. I started learning English at 50, so I know how this feels
I’m still around B1. I know the feeling of understanding every word and still missing the meaning, and of saying something correct that makes the other person pause. That’s why the explanations here are written for someone who is tired, busy and studying in their second or third language.
私が英語を始めたのは50歳のときで、今もB1くらいです。単語は全部わかるのに意味がつかめない感じも、文法は合っているのに相手が一瞬止まる感じも、知っています。だからここの解説は、疲れていて、忙しくて、母語ではない言語で勉強している人に向けて書いています。
How I check the Japanese / 日本語をどう確認しているか
Up to N3, correct grammar is usually natural Japanese. From N2 that stops being true. You can build a sentence that is perfectly grammatical and that no Japanese person would ever say. So I check four things before anything goes live.
N3までは、文法が正しければたいてい自然な日本語になります。N2からは違います。文法は完全に正しいのに、日本人なら絶対にそう言わない文が作れてしまうからです。だから公開する前に、次の4つを見ています。
-
Situation / 場面
Many N2 patterns live in one specific setting — a shop counter, a written report, a formal speech. Half a step outside that setting and the sentence stops sounding real.
N2の表現は、使う場面が決まっているものが多くあります。店のカウンター、報告書、あらたまった挨拶。場面が半歩ずれると、もう本物に聞こえません。
-
Word partners / 結びつく言葉
Each pattern has words it habitually appears with. A combination that is grammatically valid but that nobody actually uses is still wrong to a native ear.
表現ごとに、いっしょに使われる言葉が決まっています。文法として成立していても、実際に使わない組み合わせは、ネイティブの耳には間違いです。
-
Reading aloud / 声に出す
I record the main audio in my own voice. If a sentence catches in my mouth when I read it, it gets rewritten. Recording is a second round of checking, and that is why I use my own voice.
メインの音声は、私が自分で録音しています。読み上げたときに口が引っかかる文は、書き直します。録音は、2回目の確認にもなっています。自分の声で録るのは、そのためです。
-
Rewriting / 書き直す
“It’s understandable, so it’s fine” is not the standard here. If it sounds unnatural, it goes.
「通じるから、まあいい」では残しません。不自然なら消します。
Correct, but nobody says it / 正しいのに、誰も言わない
One example.
ひとつ例を挙げます。
❌ Replying to a request from your department manager: 了解しました。
⭕ Replying to a request from your department manager: 承知しました。
了解しました is correct Japanese, and Japanese people use it every day — with colleagues. Sent to a manager or a client, it lands as too casual. Most textbooks never mention this, and most learners find out the hard way at work.
「了解しました」は文法的に正しく、日本人も毎日使います。ただし同僚どうしの言葉です。上司やお客様に使うと、少し軽く聞こえます。教科書にはほとんど書かれていないので、多くの学習者は職場で気づくことになります。
Finding and fixing differences like this is the main work I do here.
こういう違いを見つけて直すことが、このサイトで私がしている仕事の中心です。
How I use AI / AIの使い方について
I use AI to help me draft questions and build the pages. I want to say that plainly, because a lot of sites don’t.
問題の下書きやページの制作に、AIを使っています。書かないサイトも多いのですが、きちんと書いておきます。
AI is fast, but it sometimes produces Japanese that is grammatically correct yet inappropriate for the situation, especially at the N2 level.
AIは速いのですが、特にN2では、文法は合っているのに場面に合わない日本語を出してくることがあります。
Every sentence you see here has been reviewed by me before publication. If something sounded unnatural, I rewrote it or removed it. That checking is where the real work happens. It sometimes takes time, but I believe it’s an important part of creating good learning materials.
ここにある文は、すべて公開前に私が確認しています。不自然に感じたら、書き直すか、消します。この確認がいちばん大事な作業です。時間はかかりますが、よい教材を作るために省けません。
I check everything, but I am one person. Mistakes get through. If you find one, please tell me — I will check it and fix it.
全部確認していますが、ひとりで作っています。見落としはあります。見つけたら教えてください。確認して直します。
Me and manga / 私と漫画
I’ve been reading manga since I was six. That’s almost 50 years! People even call me a “living fossil” of manga. I know the old classics best. I know much less about the 2000s, because I was busy raising my kids, and now I’m catching up on new titles.
6歳から漫画を読んでいて、もうすぐ50年になります。漫画については「生きてる化石」と言われるほどです。いちばん詳しいのは昔の名作です。子育てで忙しかった2000年代の作品はあまり知りませんが、今は新しい作品に追いついているところです。
The classics (up to the 1990s) / 昔の名作
This is where I’m strongest. My all-time favorite manga artist is Naoki Urasawa.
ここがいちばん得意な分野です。いちばん好きな漫画家は浦沢直樹さんです。
- Mystery / ミステリー: Monster(MONSTER), Master Keaton(マスターキートン), Detective Conan(名探偵コナン)
- Action & fantasy / アクション・ファンタジー: Fist of the North Star(北斗の拳), Dragon Ball(ドラゴンボール), Inuyasha(犬夜叉)
- Sci-fi & robots / SF・ロボット: Mobile Suit Gundam, the original(機動戦士ガンダム 初代), Akira(AKIRA), Ghost in the Shell(攻殻機動隊), Neon Genesis Evangelion(新世紀エヴァンゲリオン)
I’ve read every volume of Dragon Ball and Inuyasha, and Akira is on my bookshelf. My husband and son love building Gundam models, so there is always a Gundam somewhere in our house.
ドラゴンボールと犬夜叉は全巻読みました。AKIRAは本棚にあります。夫と息子がガンプラ好きなので、家のどこかにいつもガンダムがいます。
The gap: the 2000s / 空白の2000年代
When One Piece(ワンピース)and Attack on Titan(進撃の巨人)took off, I was busy raising my kids. I’ve read some of both, but never finished them. They’re on my “someday” list, together with Detective Conan, which now has over 100 volumes! The one exception is Fullmetal Alchemist(鋼の錬金術師). I own the manga.
ワンピースや進撃の巨人が流行ったころ、私は子育てで忙しくしていました。どちらも少し読みましたが、最後までは読めていません。100巻を超えた名探偵コナンといっしょに、「いつか読むリスト」に入っています。例外は鋼の錬金術師で、漫画を持っています。
Catching up now / 最近の作品
My husband watches a lot of anime, so we watch together. These are my recent favorites.
夫がよくアニメを見るので、いっしょに見ています。最近のお気に入りはこちらです。
